Professor Sakaguchi, Yuka Nakamura, Linda Dennis, Taichi Oda, Juseki Sin,Takuro Usui, Yuna Ogino Masakazu Itoh,Sin Kawabe, and Tsuchiya were unable to attend due to work commitments Keiju Cho is presently in China on vacation.
Items of Discussion
Review of QCA and Geidai groups activities.
- Russell visit to Geidai
- Russell presentation of Geidai students work to students of QCA
- Artist Pairing Suggestion List prepared by Russell and Siegfried.
- Project Title proposed by QCA group: Inter Image - contemporary Japan/Australia art encounters
- Applications sent to Pola Foundation (result pending), Japan Foundation (result pending), Australia Japan Foundation (unsuccessful)
Collaboration Method Ideas
A few students are a little worried about their ability to communicate in English, and this led to the discussion of how to collaborate. They doubt their ability to work in pairs. I have offered to help them in any way regarding English. Various ideas were discussed, and three noted down to be put forward, to be voted on by the groups. I will send these to you in a separate email very soon. I am hoping a vote will provide a fair way for us to decide how to proceed. I will write again very soon about this.
Artist Pairs
We viewed the powerpoint presentations of:
Geneveive Staines, Simone Eisler, Virginia Miller, Anna Gonzalez, Catherine Chui, Freya Penne, Roya Butler Professor Sakaguchi and the students were all very interested in the artworks and are looking forward to working together on the project. Due to lack of method of collaboration being undecided, and also because we did not have images of all the CA students, we could not decide on artist pairs.
